North Country Home Services Celebrates National Home Care Month
November 15, 2017
During the month of November the home care and hospice community honor the millions of nurses, home care aides, therapists and social workers who provide health and supportive care in a patient’s home.
North Country Home Services staff of over 250 home care aides and nurses travel approximately 7,000 miles collectively each day to care for their patients in Franklin, Essex and Clinton Counties. To honor their staff, North Country Home Services holds a celebration event at each of their four offices located in Malone, Tri Lakes, Plattsburgh and Ticonderoga, NY. Special tribute was given to staff who have been employed for 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, 5 and 3 years.
Debbie Green, RN Office Manager of North Country Home Services Malone office presided over festivities which were held on November 14th celebrating the 77 aides and nurses who care for patients in northern Franklin County and surrounding area. Debbie who herself has been employed for over 31 years with North Country Home Services credits the Home Care Aides as being an amazingly dedicated and caring group of caregivers saying “our Aides make such a difference in the lives of their patients by the care they provide and the compassion they show, enriching lives and bringing a little ray of sunshine with them on their daily rounds”.
Rebecca Leahy, CEO described North Country Home Services aides and nurses as “heroic care-givers who drive rural, isolated and often mountainous back roads to ensure their patients receive the care they need to remain safe and well in their homes”. She describes the Home Care Aides as being the ”boots on the ground” that support the entire home health care system; because without the aides many patients would not be able to remain in their homes as they age or suffer from illnesses or disabilities. Home Care Aides play a central role in our health care nsystem and in homes across the North Country.
North Country Home Services’ mission is to provide the care and supportive services needed to help seniors and the chronically ill and disabled remain independent at home and it is our privilege to recognize and thank the staff who make that possible, says Rebecca.
